HOW TO MAKE YOUR SMOOTHIE BOWLS INSTA-WORTHY

CREATING THE CUTEST BOWLS FOR A FAB FEED

Hey babes!!

Making smoothie bowls is one of my favorite things to do over summer. They're delicious, creamy, tropical, icy, etc., but when they're cute, detailed, bright and covered with yummy toppings and flowers, they're not only more fun to eat, but SUPER fun to shoot pics of, too.

Here are a few simple tips and tricks to taking your smoothie bowls to the next level.

1. SHOOT IN THE SHADE

It's much easier to get a clear, visible shot in the shade. Simple as that!

2. USE LESS OR NO LIQUID

A watery smoothie bowl is the absolute worst. Not only is it less fun to eat (aim for ice cream or froyo consistency), but your toppings will sink through your base if it's not thick enough. Try using a high-speed blender or food processor, and cutting your fruit into smaller bits so that it can blend with little-to-no liquid.

3. BE MINDFUL WITH YOUR TOPPINGS

Drop your toppings onto your bowl into rows, sections, etc. When each topping has its own space, your bowl will look more organized and aesthetic!

4. GET CREATIVE

Top your bowl with seeds, nuts, nut butters, honey, flowers, etc. I like to cut my fruit with cookie cutters! This way, you can create fun shapes like flamingos, cacti, stars, etc., and it's super easy!

5. PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR BACKGROUND

The background of your photo is almost as important as the smoothie bowl itself! Try a plain white background with a few scattered flowers, layering placemats, blankets, different countertops, grass, holding it above water, get creative with it! I like to layer different patterns and textures, or sprinkle some coconut flakes, chia seeds, or nuts around the bowl to add some movement to the photo. Feel free to experiment with angles, too. Some photos look adorable as a flat lay, while others look bright and clean when including a backsplash, etc.

6. USE A VARIETY OF BOWLS

Experiment with the actual bowl you're using. Try out plain white, patterned, colored, etc. You can even use wooden bowls, pottery, coconut bowls, or fruit boats (like pineapple or dragonfruit). Get creative with it!

7. DOUBLE (OR TRIPLE) IT !

Invite a friend over or make an extra bowl for a family member! It's super fun to decorate bowls and photos with multiple smoothie bowls just look so cute because of that extra variety.
